' Black Jack (ブラック・ジャック) was a medical drama series created by artist Osamu Tezuka. The manga ran from November, 1973 until September, 1978, spanning over 240 chapters. Due to Tezuka’s background in the medical field, many different illnesses and diseases were written with extreme accuracy for their time. Black Jack (ブラック・ジャック, Burakku Jakku) is a manga written and illustrated by Osamu Tezuka in the 1970s. Black Jack consists of hundreds of short, self-contained episodes that are typically about 20 pages long. To elaborate, Black Jack is about to start an operation, but is interrupted by someone's phone going off. He interrogates the other doctors in the room, which includes Astro Boy and Tezuka himself, before it's revealed the phone belongs to the patient and everyone chews her out.
