Itin Poker
Being a professional poker player has more advantages when it comes to taxes, but a lot of professionals don’t make good use of it. As a poker pro, all expenses that were necessary to win money, and everything that you paid for at a tournament, are qualified for a tax deduction. However, these benefits also come with bigger responsibilities. I want to register to a paying Social networking company. (A website like Myspace that pays you money to use their website). I am required to be atleast 14 years of age, have a valid Social Security Number, have a TIN (Taxpayers Identification number) or ITIN, and fill out an IRS form W9. This is a discussion on WSOP: Individual Tax Identification Number within the online poker forums, in the General Poker section; From 2015 WSOP FAQ: What must I provide to collect Tournament Winnings? An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) begins with the number 9 and has a range of.70-88 in the fourth and fifth digit. The range was extended to include 9 through 9, 9 through 9 and 9 through 9.
An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a United States tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It is a nine-digit number beginning with the number “9”, has a range of numbers from '50' to '65', '70' to '88', “90” to “92” and “94” to “99” for the fourth and fifth digits and is formatted like a SSN (i.e. 9XX-7X-XXXX).[1] Temporary identification numbers are issued to the main taxpayer only and these numbers are usually triggered after a 45-day suspension period. Filing the W-7 application incorrectly, checking the wrong box for the reason the individual is submitting a W-7 form or if the taxpayer's identifying documents are not accepted by the IRS, can be a reason for which the taxpayer may receive a temporary taxpayer identification number.[2] ITIN numbers are issued by the IRS to individuals who do not have, and are not eligible to obtain, a valid U.S. Social Security Number, but who are required by law to file a U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. An individual required to file a tax return must check boxes b, c, d, e, f, or g on the W-7 application. Individuals who check boxes a, f or h meet certain conditions for not filing a U.S. tax return, and for obtaining an ITIN number from the IRS.
Regardless of immigration status, both resident and nonresident immigrants may have Federal tax return and payment responsibilities under the Internal Revenue Code.[3] Individuals must have a filing requirement and file a valid federal income tax return to receive an ITIN, unless they meet an exception. An ITIN application cannot be filed electronically (efile). The application must be attached to a valid federal income tax return.
The ITIN program was created in 1996 for the purpose of allowing tax return filing by individuals without a Social Security account number. Receiving an ITIN number does not in itself confer the right to work and receive income in the United States.[4]
In 2006, 1.4 million people used ITINs when filing tax returns. Federal tax law generally prohibits the IRS from sharing data with other government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, assuring unauthorized aliens[5] that the tax information will be confidential and generally will not be used to initiate removal procedures.[6][7]
ITINs are also used by real estate brokers to facilitate mortgages for unauthorized aliens.[8] In addition to use by unauthorized aliens, ITINs are used by foreign investors in United States real estate. Such investors need ITINs to file federal and state tax returns to report rental income.
An individual who meets eligibility requirements can file an ITIN application himself or herself. This involves submitting IRS form W-7, which records biographical information, along with specified types of valid supporting ID and a tax return. The applicant can apply directly or file with a certifying acceptance agent, who can assist with the application process for a fee. ITINs can also be issued for a spouse or dependents, if documentation and signature requirements are met and they are claimed on a valid tax return.[9] Effective June 22, 2012 the IRS began requiring most applicants, even those using acceptance agents, to submit original supporting documents or copies certified by their issuing agency. The IRS will not accept notarized copies of the passport for ITIN application.
In 2012, the IRS indicated that ITINs would expire after 5 years. In 2014, the IRS amended that policy to expire ITINs only if the numbers had not been used in the last 5 years. Under this revised policy, all ITIN's must be used to file a return or they will expire and be reassigned. This now includes those issued before 2013. These changes go into effect in 2016.[10] The policy has since been revised again so that ITINs expire after three years of non-use. In addition, ITINs issued prior to 2013 will begin expiring in 2016, starting with those with middle digits of 78 and 79 (Example: (9XX-78-XXXX).[11]

- »Registration Details Available for 2020 WSOP
The World Series of Poker has been revealing more information about the upcoming 2020 WSOP each week this year. From the time officials first announced the start and end dates and details about the WSOP Main Event in December to now, there is quite a lot of information available.
While the schedule is reportedly finalized, there are many more decisions to be made and details to be released in the coming months.
This week, however, the WSOP provided a great deal of registration information, which is especially important for Aussies. Those players making the long trek from Australia to Las Vegas for all or part of the 2020 WSOP will need to know how to handle their financial transfers and registrations.
Caesars Rewards
The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, where the WSOP is played, is a part of the Caesars family of casinos. In order to buy in to a poker tournament at the WSOP, every player must have a Caesars Rewards card.
This is a free card from the casino. It can be obtained online before arriving in Las Vegas by simply going to the Caesars website and completing a simple form.
Upon arriving at the Rio – or at any Caesars property in Las Vegas – the player can then present his or her passport to obtain a physical card. If at the Rio, this can be done in the rotunda area of the convention center area near the WSOP ballrooms.
Online Tournament Registration
The easiest way for players to prepare for the WSOP before arriving in Las Vegas is to set up an online account at Bravo Poker Live. This will allow players to find all cash games and tournaments in Las Vegas, pre-register for events online, sign up for cash game waiting lists, and even buy in to WSOP events.
By linking one’s account to a bank or payment source (a wire for many Aussies), online registration becomes an option.
When buying in to an event, simply choose the “West” region and “Nevada” as the state, and the Rio will be one of the venues to choose.
Registration will open sometime in April, at which point all players will be able to buy in to 2020 WSOP events. Upon arrival at the Rio, players will have to visit the main cage in the Tropical or Belize ballrooms to show identification. Each player only needs to do this once, no matter how many tournaments they play.
Players will then go to any kiosk to print a seat card after buying in to an event online. There will be approximately 20 kiosks located around the WSOP ballrooms and hallways. The process should reduce the amount of time players must stand in line and the amount of cash players must carry.
Preparing for Payout Process
Aussies heading to the WSOP should make sure to bring banking and wire transfer information with them. Any time a player cashes in a tournament, they will go to the Palma ballroom in the Rio to process their payments. They will show their Caesars Rewards card, passport, and all banking information.
International players will also need to bring an additional form of identification to apply for an ITIN (individual taxpayer identification number). This form of identification may be a utility bill, mobile phone bill, apartment lease agreement, or anything that verifies the person’s address and matches it to the bank account or wire information.
Players can choose to receive payment in cash, casino chips, or a check, or they can direct money back into their online Bravo account. Most Aussie players will choose the Bravo account or wire transfer option.

Improvements for 2020 WSOP
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart noted that expediting the registration, buy-in, and payout processes are important to the staff. It was a point of contention at times during last year’s summer series.
“There is no doubt we need to do a better job of getting people in their seats and playing poker faster,” Stewart said. “We’ve looked closely at several areas in the off-season and are dedicating new resources – technology, equipment, and people – to aid in these efforts in 2020.”
The World Series of Poker will announce more improvements as the series nears.

There have been hints about more leaderboards and player points races, ways for players to earn points and win tangible prizes throughout the WSOP.

Players traveling to Las Vegas from Australia can address questions to the WSOP on Twitter at this point. Caesars and Bravo can help with any difficulties that may arise with setting up those accounts. Working out issues prior to the trip will make everything easier and allow players to focus more on the poker to be played.
